ARTICLE 17 <br />HOURS <br />17.01 The basic work schedule for bargaining unit members assigned to shift shall be <br />twenty-four (24) hour shifts on -duty and forty-eight (48) hours off-duty. <br />17.02 The parties recognize that the employees covered by this agreement are essential <br />to the successful operations of County facilities and services during a declared emergency. As <br />such, the parties agree that as a condition of these employees' employment with the County, they <br />must be available and able to report to work and perform assigned duties as directed by <br />management during a declared emergency. The Fire Chief or his designee may allow exceptions to <br />this requirement for extraordinary circumstances at his discretion. <br />17.03 Effective with ratification of this Agreement, shift employees shall be granted a regularly <br />scheduled, paid day off, known as a Regular Day Off (RDO), once every three (3) weeks. <br />RDOs shall be selected by classification seniority. RDO can be exchanged in the same <br />manner as any other shift. <br />Employees on light duty, shall not be assigned an RDO. <br />27 <br />
