MCCAIN, E. <br />AND STAFFED <br />CAPITAL PROJE <br />BY: <br />SUBJECT: <br />SOUTH COUNTY WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT <br />LANDSCAPING, INDIAN RIVER COUNTY PROJECT NO. <br />US -90 -20 -DC <br />On December 3. 1996, the Indian River County Planning Department brought forward a <br />request for special exception use approval for the South County Wastewater Treatment <br />Plant Expansion. (Please refer to the attached agenda item and minutes.) The Board's <br />discussion at that meeting centered around a recommendation by the Planning and <br />Zoning Commission's request to consider additional buffering of the site. The main <br />concerns were maintaining the existing oak hammock on site and additional buffering. <br />The Board tabled the matter for two weeks for staff to investigate options. <br />On December 17. 1996, staff returned to the Board with several options to preserve the <br />oak hammock and an assurance that additional buffering would be worked out with the <br />Indian River Club. (Please refer to the attached agenda item and minutes.) Alternative <br />No. '_ of the available options was selected by the Board, maintaining the integrity of the <br />oak hammock at a estimated additional cost of 5306,000.00.
