BOOK A6 PAGE 524 <br />South County contract and is as yet incomplete. Staff proposes to postpone decision-making <br />regarding this issue until substantial completion is achieved, expected prior to the end of the <br />calendar year. When the 30 -day acceptance test criteria are met, staff will revisit the Data <br />Communication System components, as required by construction permit and seek approval to <br />add to the Central Regional project. <br />Staff is also recommending that a change order be brought back to the Board upon execution of <br />the contract to remove sales tax from all major purchases within the project, as was done with the <br />County Courthouse and South County Wastewater Treatment Expansion projects. It is <br />anticipated that the sales. tax change order may reduce the project cost by as much as <br />$300,000.00, placing the project well below the budgeted amount of $10.6 million. Funding for <br />this project will be from account number 475-000-169-244.00. <br />Staff will also be bringing additional inspection services with our Engineer and outside contract <br />inspector to the Board for approval. <br />The staff of the Department of Utility Services recommends that the Board of County <br />Commissioners approve the award of bid to Indian River Industrial Contractors, Inc., in the <br />amount of $10,672,415.00, authorize staff to proceed with the sales tax change order as presented <br />above, and authorize the Chairman to execute the contracts upon receipt of insurance, bonds, etc. <br />WFM/aa <br />Attachments <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Adams, SECONDED BY <br />Commissioner Macht, the Board unanimously (4-0, <br />Commissioner Eggert absent) awarded Bid #8067 to Indian <br />River Industrial Contractors, Inc. in the amount of <br />$10,672,415.00; authorized staff to proceed with the sales tax <br />change order as presented in the memorandum; and authorized <br />the Chairman to execute the contracts upon receipt of insurance, <br />bonds, and other required documents, as recommended in the <br />Memorandum. <br />11.H.3.
