US -96 -25 -CS <br />BACKGROUND <br />On February 11, 1997, the Board of County Commissioners authorized staff to design, permit <br />and ready for construction the above -referenced project. The BCC approved the utilization of the <br />current labor contract with Driveways, Inc., to construct the project with the additional costs <br />involved being brought back to the Board for approval. (See attached copy of agenda item) <br />ANALYSIS <br />The Utilities Department has looked carefully at the project and proposes that County utility <br />maintenance/construction crews install the force main. The attached estimated cost for in-house <br />labor for installation is $9,247.00. All materials will be purchased directly from the County <br />material supplier, U.S. Filter/Davis, at an estimated cost of $12,392.40. Staff has obtained a <br />quote from the labor contractor of $14,629.78 for the labor only. In an effort to minimize costs <br />and complete the project as efficiently as possible, the Department of Utility Services <br />recommends utilizing in-house staff and purchasing all materials from U.S. Filter/Davis for a <br />total estimated cost of $21,639.40, resulting in a cost savings of $5,382.78. <br />KWO1013"MI-W• <br />The staff of the Department of Utility Services recommends that the Board of County <br />Commissioners approve the utilization of County utility maintenance crews to construct the <br />proposed force main at an estimated labor cost of $9,247.00 and authorize the purchase of <br />materials from U.S. Filter/Davis at an estimated material cost of $12,392.40, as presented above <br />for a total estimated project cost of $21,639.40. <br />ROW/aa <br />Attachments <br />August 11, 1998 <br />59 <br />BOOK 106FgF �� <br />
