y1.2: As an employer, the county shall employ local residents, use local services, and retain <br />contractors, whenever possible. <br />Proposed Action: REVISE POLICY <br />As an employer, the county shall notify local residents and local business of any employment or <br />service contract opportunities by advertising job opportunities in the local newspaperand by sending <br />request for proposals to appropriate local businesses. To ensure proper notification, the county's <br />General Services Department shall maintain a list of local businesses and contractors. <br />Policy 1.10: On an annual basis, the county shall update its Commercial/Industrial Data Source <br />Book. This book consists of planning, zoning, land use, demographic, and other socio-economic <br />information helpful to businesses desiring to relocate. <br />Proposed Action: REVISE POLICY <br />The county shall on a semi-annual basis re-evaluate the size and location of its commercial/industrial <br />modes. On an annual basis, the county shall update its Commercial/Industrial Data Source Book. <br />This book consists of planning, zoning, and land use information helpful to businesses desiring to <br />Policy 1.12: The county shall provide adequate infrastructure to areas designated for commercial <br />and industrial development. <br />'Proposed Action: DELETE POLICY <br />The action for Policy 1.12 is the same as the action for the revised Policy 2.3. <br />y_2.3: The county shall designate sufficient land on its Comprehensive Plan Future Land Use <br />for firture commercial/industrial uses and shall provide infirasmmcture for these lands to facilitate <br />lopment of industrial parks within the county. <br />Proposed Action: REVISE POLICY <br />The county shall designate sufficient land on its Comprehensive Plan Future Land Use Map for <br />future commercial/industrial uses and shall provide infrastructure (potable water and roads, and to <br />the extent feasible sanitary sewer) for these lands to facilitate development of industrial parks within <br />Policy 2.4: The county shall coordinate with private industrial park developers to establish industrial <br />parks at the SR 60 / I-95, CR 512 / I-95, and Oslo Road / 74`h Ave. commercial/industrial nodes, and <br />at other appropriate locations within the county. <br />Proposed Action: REVISE POLICY <br />The county shall assist private industrial park developers to establish industrial parks at the SR 60/1- <br />95. CR 512/1-95, and Oslo Road/74'h Ave. commercial/industrial nodes, and at other appropriate <br />locations within the county. Assistance will include providing pre -application meetings to determine <br />needs and requirements of potential industrial park developers, expediting the permitting process, <br />assisting with appropriate grant applications, and providing information pertaining to available <br />incentives. <br />LI: The county, through the solid waste disposal district, will provide land adjacent to <br />for appropriate businesses to locate. <br />Proposed Action: DELETE POLICY <br />The Solid Waste Disposal District Manager has informed planning staff that the land adjacent to the <br />landfill is currently designated to be used for a landfill expansion. <br />Eoliay 2.6: The county, in coordination with the Indian River County Chamber of Commerce, shall <br />establish a list of target industries and evaluate this list at least every two years in order to reflect the <br />current economic needs of the county as well as the actual marketing results.
