• <br />Assistant County Attorney Terry O'Brien noted that last Saturday he and Captain <br />Bradley of the Sheriff's Office explained the Government -in -the -Sunshine regulations to the <br />Substance Abuse Council. This only applies to the -concerned organization regarding their <br />governmental functions and is limited for each organization affected. <br />Commissioner Adams requested that Attorney O'Brien contact the other involved <br />organizations and provide the same educational opportunity. <br />Attorney O'Brien responded that he would be happy to do that. <br />Chairman Macht also commented that the meetings for these organizations that fall <br />under the Sunshine law will need to be advertised and he suggested that the Board pick up <br />those costs so that the organizations do not incur any additional costs. <br />County Attorney Vitunac encouraged the affected organizations to hold any such <br />meetings in a public building with Americans with Disabilities Act access. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Adams, <br />SECONDED by Commissioner Stanbridge, the <br />Board unanimously requested Assistant County <br />Attorney O'Brien to hold a Government -in -the - <br />Sunshine seminar for the Cultural Council of Indian <br />River County, Council on Aging and the Chamber of <br />Commerce, as was done for the Substance Abuse <br />Council. <br />AUGUST 24, 1999 <br />-37- <br />• <br />
