Meetings attended 1 <br />It was ordered Amy Newton, colored, Gifford,`Floride, be placed on the paupers list <br />to receive the sum of $8.00 per month until the further order of the Board. <br />It was moved by Commissioner R. W. Graves, seconded by Commissioner Glover and par- <br />ried that Mary Green, 200 N. 8th Street, Fort Pierce, Florida, be paid the sum of $22.00 for <br />board and care of James W. Johnson, colored, of Fellsmere,Florida, and the Board further agreed <br />to cooperate in the case of James W. Johnson as follows, to -wit: <br />TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: <br />We, the County Commissioners of Indian River County, do hereby agree that with res- <br />ipect to James W. Johnson a resident of Indian River County, who is now an inmate of St. Lucie <br />County Colored Welfare House at Ft. Pierce, that we are and will be responsible for necessary <br />hospitalization for James and in the event such hospitalization becomes necessary, James W. <br />Johnson is to be removed by H. H. Floyd of Vero Beach from the House where he now is to the <br />Indian River Hospital at Vero Beach, such removal to be at our expense; and further, that we <br />Will be responsible for interment expense. <br />This 7th day of August, 1945. <br />_W. Buster, representing the American Legion, Glenn Snodgrass <br />;and Chief Pierce, representing the veterans of foreign wars, together with Doctor Luokie, appear <br />wed before the Board regarding an appropriation for salary to be paid a service officer for <br />Indian River County in assisting veterans of foreign wars as provided under Senate Bill No. 1701 <br />' The Board agreed to amend the proposed 1945 and 1946 budget so as to include this appropriation. <br />On Motion made by Commissioner Helseth, seconded by Commissioner R. W. Graves and una <br />nimously carried, Douglas Baker, Clerk, was instructed to write the following letter: <br />August 9, 1945 <br />Commanding Officer <br />Naval Air Station <br />'Vero Beach, Florida <br />dear Sir: <br />It is requested that the Navy use D. 1).
