Honorable Dwight L. Rogers, Member of Congress of the Fifth Congressional District of Florida, <br />the Central and Southern Florida Flood Control District, the State Board of Conservation of the <br />State of Florida, Division of Water Surveys and Reaearch, the Corps of Engineers, Department <br />of the army of the United States of America, and Mr. Joe S. Earman, Member of Board of Central <br />and Southern Florida Flood Control District. <br />Motion for the adoption of the Resolution was made by Commissioner Waddell and <br />unanimously carried. <br />- - - - - - - - - - - - - <br />Notary Public bond for Jayne Mills in the sum of $500.00 with St. Paul Mercury <br />Indemnity Company as surety was approved August 19, 19491 by Douglas Baker, Clerk Circuit <br />Court as provided by law. <br />Application of Lena Jo Ingram for admission to State Tuberculosis Sanitorium, <br />Orlando, Florida, was approved August 20, 1949. <br />Representatives of the Bishop Office Equipment Company, George Stewart, Inc., <br />H. & W. B. Drew Company and Morse Printing Company appeared before the Board with regard to <br />,in <br />furnishing supplies and equipment/connection with the setting up of the new registration <br />business, furnished information and figuresland also presented binders connected with the <br />setting up of same; however, no action was taken with regard to the purchasing of said equipe <br />ment and supplies at this time. <br />of 1941. <br />County Deed No. 299 was executed by the Board under Chapter 1942 Florida Statutes <br />E. E. Carter, Road and Bridge Superintendent, recommended Mrs. J. L. Helpling, <br />Wabasso, to carry on as supervisor of the Wabasso barracks in place of her husband, recently <br />deceased. <br />The Board authorized grocery orders for the Chapman family to be reduced to $5.00 <br />per week in lieu of $8.00. <br />Miss Verna McGee of the Indian River County Health Unit, and Commissioner Waddell <br />were appointed a committee with authority to act in .the case of Effl� Brisbane, Colored, <br />who is reported to be in need of a goiter operation. <br />June 8, 1949 <br />The County Commissioners of Indian River County <br />Vero Beach, Florida <br />Gentlemen: <br />We understand that the anticipated enactment into law of a local bill now awaiting the <br />Governor's signature will make possible the long awaited and mVLch needed alterations and <br />additions to the County Jail. It is also our understanding that you will wish to have this <br />work done as quickly as.possible. Sincerely believing that we, as local architects and <br />engineers, are best situated and equipped to provide you with the professional services <br />necessary to do this work, we submit the following proposals: <br />1. That we be engaged, for a retainer of one huhdred and fifty dollars ($150.00), <br />to proceed with preliminary conferences, studies, sketches, and recommendations of such <br />character as to provide a reasonable basis for arriving at decisions for carrying out the <br />actual work. <br />2. That, at the time such decisions are made, a contract between us then be con- <br />sidered'which contract would provide our complete services for a fee not to exceed eight <br />percent (8%) of the total cost of the construction work. It is understood that the retainer <br />fee would be absorbed by the fee stipulated by such future contract. <br />3.
