ANALYSIS <br /> Change Order#1, which was approved at the Board's November 14, 2014 meeting for replacement of the <br /> small northern dock, was based on an estimate for the work provided by Summerlin at that time (see <br /> Attachment 2). In reading that estimate, however, staff misinterpreted a reference of"furnish and install <br /> 5' x 77' north dock for the sum of$10,880.00" as inclusive of other costs in the estimate. Staff has since <br /> learned that the other $4,850.00 (combined) costs in the estimate were not part of, but in addition to, the <br /> $10,880.00. <br /> Despite that misunderstanding, staff feels that the overall revised/corrected cost of $15,730.00 for full <br /> replacement of the north dock is a reasonable price,warranting County approval of Change Order#2. <br /> Following is a summary of the contract price as amended by proposed Change Order#2: <br /> CHANGE IN CONTRACT PRICE <br /> Description Amount <br /> Original Contract Price(Jones's Pier repair and north dock removal) $61,099.00 <br /> Change Order 1 (approved by BCC 11/14/14 - north dock repair/replacement) $10,880.00 <br /> Proposed Change Order 2 (north dock repair/replacement) $4,850.00 <br /> Contract Price with Change Orders $76,829.00 <br /> Funding <br /> County environmental land bond funds are eligible to be used as the County's funding source for the <br /> work. As of March 31, 2015, the cash balance of the environmental land bond fund account was <br /> $195,376.33, an amount which covers the estimated $76,829.00 needed for the overall project, as <br /> amended by proposed Change Order#2. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: <br /> Staff recommends that the Board of County Commissioners approve the attached Change Order#2 to the <br /> construction agreement with Summerlin's Marine Construction, LLC for dock repairs at the Jones's Pier <br /> property, and authorize staff to sign the change order on behalf of the County, with County costs to be <br /> funded with environmental land bond funds. <br /> ATTACHMENTS: <br /> 1.
