Mr. Frank A. Knight appeared before the Board and made a verbal application for
<br />the position of Road and Bridge Superintendent. Chairman Graves advised Mr. Knight the Board
<br />had already employed E. E. Carter as Road and Bridge Superintendent.
<br />Mrs. Anna Christensen, County Welfare Case Worker, appeared before the Board and
<br />made a report of her activities for the month of December, 1951, and said report was filed with
<br />the Clerk.

<br />Control District, in the sum of $5,000.00 with Continental Casualty Company as surety, was ap-
<br />proved by, and filed with, Douglas Baker, Clerk, as required by law.
<br />Verdict of Coroner's Jury in the matter of the inquest of the body.of Robert
<br />Eugene Fortenberry was received and filed with the Clerk.
<br />Certain work was authorized to be done relating to the obtaining of rights of way
<br />on Florida State Road #5 and copies of letters on file in the Clerk's Office directed to the
<br />following: Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Rye, 755 18th Place, Vero Beach, Florida; and Mr. A. L. Pond,
<br />Vero Beach, Florida.
<br />Sherman N. Smith, Jr. was authorized to go to the Florida East Coast Railway
<br />Attorney's office in Jacksonville, Florida, to try and get approval on the various ramifications,
<br />etc. relating to State Road #5 (U. S. #1) right of way problems.
<br />Upon motion of Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Watts and unanimous-
<br />ly carried, the salary of G. E. Strait, Janitor, was increased from $185.00 to $200.00 per month,
<br />and the salary of Douglas Baker, as Clerk to the Board, was increased from $200.00 to $250.00
<br />per month.
<br />The Board authorized traveling expenses for the County Commissioners and Attorney
<br />to attend a budget meeting of the State Road Department in Tallahassee on January 14., 1952, re-
<br />lating to secondary roads and other matters. 1
<br />It was ordered the sum of $150.00 be paid from the.<General Revenue Fund to L. G.
<br />Burger, Chairman Florida Free Highways Association.
<br />A certified copy of Resolution duly adopted by the County Democratic Executive
