opportunities for funding . With regard to local option gas taxes (6 ¢ out of possible _ 12 ¢ ) , the <br /> constitutional gas tax in Brevard County has been bonded out to 2021 and for which they will be <br /> doing major maintenance and improvement projects with major price tags . From the local option <br /> gas tax revenue , the County receives about 43 % . The County is looking at issuing bonds for <br /> some new and old countywide projects for about $ 20 - 25 Million . <br /> Mr . Denninghoff responded to various questions on various topics regarding <br /> impact fees and local option sales tax uses from the Commissioners and staff. <br /> B. INDIAN RI VER COUNTY <br /> Community Development Director Bob Keating provided another Power Point <br /> presentation ( copy on file in the Clerk ' s Office) while he explained our capacity charges . He <br /> specified that in May 2005 the Board adopted eight new impact fees that became effective July <br /> 1 st . All 5 municipalities in the county participate with us in these impact fees . He explained the <br /> impact fees and how they are distributed to the municipalities . We have already discovered the <br /> impact fees are too low because land costs are rising faster than the comparables used when the <br /> fees were determined . ( Clerk ' s Note : Commissioner Carlson left the meeting at 3 : 07 p . m . ) It <br /> was agreed to revisit school fees within a year . He responded to questions regarding millage and <br /> balances for taxes . He stated that it is our Board ' s policy that development shall pay for itself. <br /> A brief recess was called at 3 : 20 p . m . and the meeting was reconvened at 3 : 30 p . m . <br /> 8 . EMERGENCY SHELTERS <br /> A . BREVARD COUNTY <br /> County Manager Peggy Busacca was assigned by staff to make this report because <br /> Emergency staffers were dealing with concerns regarding Hurricane Katrina .
