He advised they have maintained their licenses for VHF radios and still have <br /> the ability to communicate on them . <br /> B. INDIANRIVER COUNTY <br /> Emergency Services Director John King advised that in Indian River County all <br /> municipalities and the public works department are all on the same frequency . We have a multi- <br /> jurisdictional countywide 800 MHz radio system . He displayed a PowerPoint presentation (on <br /> file with the backup in the Clerk ' s Office) to show how the crews must be able to communicate <br /> with each other and that it needs to be "bullet-proof ' . He noted that we actually had the vendor <br /> in our EOC during our 2004 hurricane events to assist with any difficulties . The County is very <br /> happy with our system . He advised of various communication failures encountered (particularly <br /> cell phones) and noted that we also lost our public safety answering point ( 9 - 1 - 1 ) at the Indian <br /> River County Sheriffs Office . <br /> Because the hour was getting late , the Chairperson suggested they skip over items <br /> 10 and I I on the agenda and take 12 first . There was agreement to the suggestion but these <br /> minutes are written in agenda order for continuity . <br /> 10 .
