Material with raised <br /> grain, torn surfaces , worn edges, patches , dents, or other defects <br /> which will impair the texture of the concrete surface shall not be <br /> used. Tie holes and defects shall be patched . All fins shall be <br /> completely removed. It is the intention of this surface to produce an <br /> Architectural Surface suitable for public view as a completed surface <br /> to receive paint. Strict quality control of this surface shall be <br /> required . See ACI 301 . <br /> C , Smooth Rubbed Finish : <br /> To be applied to all smooth form finishes . (All work will conform <br /> with ACI Standard 301 -latest edition) to produce a smooth <br /> Architectural effect. <br /> 2 . Finishes - Unspecified Buildings <br /> If the finish is unspecified, the following finishes shall be used as <br /> applicable. <br /> a. Rough Form Finish . <br /> For all concrete surfaces not exposed to public view, including <br /> concrete to receive stucco, <br /> b . Smooth Form Finish : <br /> For all concrete surfaces exposed to view. <br /> c. Smooth Rubbed Finish : <br /> Concrete shall have a Smooth Rubbed Finish applied to produce an <br /> Architectural effect. <br /> 3 . Patching : <br /> Immediately after stripping forms patch all defective areas with mortar <br /> similar to the concrete mix except that coarse aggregate shall be omitted . <br /> Bulges, minor honeycomb and other minor defects, as designated by the <br /> Architect, shall be patched only where exposed to view. Clean, dampen, <br /> and fill tie holes with patching mortar. All patching shall follow procedures <br /> and conform to ACI 301 : <br /> a. Major defective areas , as judged by the Owner' s representative <br /> including those resulting from leakage of forms, excessive honeycomb, <br /> large bulges and large offsets at form joints , shall be chipped away <br /> down to sound concrete . The patching mortar shall be pressed in for <br /> a complete bond and finished to match adjacent areas , or where <br /> defective areas impair the strength of the member in question, as judged <br /> by the Owner ' s representative, the member shall be removed or united <br /> as determined by the Owner ' s representative . <br /> 03300-6 <br />
