Hospital and shall report and be accountable to the Board therefore . Such activities shall <br /> include making recommendations to the Board concerning , <br /> 8 .24 Definition of the clinical privileges which may be appropriately <br /> granted within the Hospital and within each department , consistent with the patient care criteria <br /> set forth herein ; <br /> 8 . 2-2 Delineation of clinical privileges for individual members of the <br /> Medical Staff in accordance with the procedures outlined herein and , in general , the <br /> assignment of patient care responsibilities to other health care professionals consistent with <br /> individual qualifications and demonstrated ability ; <br /> 8 .2-3 Allocation. of the Hospital ' s resources _ through utilization review <br /> procedures ; - - <br /> 8 .24 Contemporaneous review and evaluation of patient care practices <br /> through defined functions of the Medical Staff, the other health care professional services, and <br /> the Hospital administration ; <br /> 8 .2-5 Retrospective review and evaluation of the quality of patient care <br /> through a valid and reliable patient care evaluation procedure ; ' <br /> - 8 .2-6 Provision of continuing professional education , shaped primarily by <br /> the needs identified through the review and evaluation activities outlined above ; and , <br /> 8 .2=7 Such other matters as the Board , after considering the advice of the <br /> Medical Staff, the other health care professionals and the Corporation ' s administrative staff, <br /> may deem- necessary for the assessment , preservation and improvement of the quality and <br /> efficiency of patient care . - - - <br /> Section 8 . 3 . ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITY . - Under the general oversight of <br /> the President , all professional departments within the Hospital shall conduct activities designed <br /> to assess , preserve and improve the quality and efficiency of patient care provided in the <br /> hospital . These activities will be reported routinely to the Board of Directors and shall <br /> include , but not be limited to the following : - <br /> Definition of skills and credentials required to ensure competency to provide patient <br /> care services consistent with established criteria . <br /> Periodic performance evaluations , at least annually , based on the job description to <br /> ensure competency of individuals providing direct patient care . <br /> Quality of patient care monitoring , review and improvement outlined in department <br /> established policies that are routinely reported through the Quality Assessment <br /> Committee and subsequently the Board . <br /> The appropriate allocation of supplies , equipment , staff and other resources for the <br /> provision of patient care . <br /> 19 <br />
