Section 4 : Leave without pay shall not constitute a break in service, but time off will not <br /> be credited toward retirement. <br /> Section 5 : Fringe benefits can be continued at the expense of the employee on any leave <br /> of absence over thirty days. <br /> Section 6 : An employee shall be considered as having resigned if the employee is absent <br /> three consecutive duty shifts without prior approval. . <br /> ARTICLE 22 — HOLIDAYS <br /> Section 1 : The County recognizes the following holidays and any other days authorized <br /> by the Board of County Commissioners under the auspices of the Indian River County <br /> Administrative Policy: <br /> L New Year' s Day <br /> 2 . Easter <br /> 3 . Memorial Day <br /> 4. Independence Day <br /> 5 , Labor Day <br /> 6 . Veteran' s Day <br /> 7 . Thanksgiving Day <br /> 8 . Friday after Thanksgiving Day <br /> 9 . Last working day before Christmas <br /> 10 , Christmas Day <br /> 11 . Floating Holiday ( 12-hr. day) <br /> Section 2 : Employees who are not required to work on a holiday, or work less than 12 <br /> hours on a holiday, will receive 12 hours of holiday pay at their regular hourly rate for the <br /> pay period within which each holiday falls. Employees who work 12 hours or more on a <br /> holiday shall receive 18 hours of holiday pay at their regular hourly rate, in addition to <br /> their twenty-four hours of regular pay for the time worked, for the pay period within <br /> which each holiday falls. <br /> Section 3 : An employee must be on active pay status or approved leave on the regularly <br /> scheduled working day immediately prior to a holiday, and the regularly scheduled <br /> working day immediately following a holiday, in order to qualify for the holiday time. <br /> 11 <br />
