F' 40 <br />Commissioner Watts introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption <br />as follows, to -wit: <br />$ F�, -a Q L IL T L Q A --- R. D. CARTER <br />WHEREAS, R. D. Carter has served the citizens of this County over a period of <br />many years as a valued citizen and particularly as an engineer and surveyor who laid out and <br />established much of Indian River County, Florida; and, <br />WHEREAS, this Board desires to express to Mrs. Carter and members of his family) <br />the acknowledgment by this Board of his many valued services to this County and its citizens; <br />Now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, <br />Florida, that this Board does herewith convey to Mrs. Carter and the members of the family <br />of R. D. Carter its deepfelt loss of the services of a fine citizen of this County in Mr. <br />Carter's death; and <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies hereof be furnished to Mrs. R. D. <br />Carter, to E. E. Carter, to Mrs. Blanche Wilcox and to the members of the Press and Radio. <br />Upon being duly seconded by Commissioner uaddell, the foregoing Resolution was <br />unanimously adopted. <br />-v- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - <br />The Board decided that D. B. McCullers should be appointed to fill out Allison <br />Warren's unexpired term and asked Sherman to so write the Governor. They also asked J. J. P. <br />Hamilton to notify the Democratic Executive Committee of Indian River County of the Board's <br />action. <br />Mr. Graves stated that Red Blanton had contacted him and asked the County to <br />send Mrs. Griffin and her daughter, who were without funds. to Chattanooga to join her husband) <br />who had left her. The Board agreed to give her $40.00 for her ticket and meals on the way. <br />Aubrey Waddell announced there would be a Director's meeting in Orlando on <br />July 6th, and the Board agreed that he should go and the Board pay his expenses. <br />A letter.was received from Julius C. Johnson, Commander Post 181, of Gifford, <br />Florida asking that signs be put at all street corners. Mr. Carter stated that these signs <br />had been ordered some time ago but as yet the county had not received them, but that they <br />would be put up as soon as received. <br />Mrs. Anne Christensen, County 6lelfare Case Worker, gave a report of her <br />activities for the Month of June and said report was ordered filed by the Clerk. <br />The following letter was received from the Florida State Board of Health and <br />ordered spread upon these minutes; <br />FLORIDA STATE BOARD OF HEALTH <br />JACKSONVILLE, FLA. <br />June 7, 1956 <br />First Federal Savings and Loan Assoc. <br />Fort Pierce, Florida <br />Gentlemen: <br />This agency has recently received a preliminary survey of Rock Ridge Subdivision located on <br />the South edge of Vero Beach, Indian River County, which was performed by our Regional <br />Sanitary Engineer, Mr. Richard W.
