K. Utility Design
The ENGINEER will prepare utility designs and plans, separate and apart from the roadway plans,
for the 16-inch and 12-inch diameter reuse water lines. The design and plans will include the stub-
outs (for potable water and sanitary sewer force main), summary of pay items, tabulation of
quantities, general notes, any special details, and an opinion of probable construction cost. The
ENGINEER will also locate subsurface utilities, only for those utilities, owned and operated by
Indian River County, at conflict points with the proposed storm sewer facilities. The design and
plans will be prepared in accordance with applicable Indian River County Water Department
standard requirements and regulations of the governing agencies, and as follows:
1 . Utilitv Services — 16-inch Reclaimed Water Main Design
The work is the preparation of additional construction documents to show the horizontal and
vertical location of a 16-inch reclaimed water main from Station 281 +26.74 to Station
305+24.60 (approximately 2,398 LF), as referenced from the baseline of construction for CR-
510. Additional design services will include the following tasks:
a. Perform the horizontal and vertical location design of the proposed 16-inch reclaimed
water main from Station 281 +26.74 to Station 305+24.60. The ends of the reclaimed
water main will be valved and plugged for connection by others in the future. The main
will be located on the north side of the roadway and north of the existing force main.
Any canal or water body crossings will be designed using the directional bore method.
Designing attachments to hang the proposed or existing utilities to the bridges is not
included in this amendment. The design of the reclaimed water main will also include fl-
inch stub-outs for future connections placed at approximately 1 ,000 foot intervals, on
both the north and south side of the roadway.
b. The ENGINEER shall identify potential utility conflicts resulting from the proposed
reclaimed water main conflicting with the proposed potable water main stub-outs and
proposed sanitary sewer force main stub-outs. The existing utilities at these conflict
points will be located vertically and horizontally, as discussed in the Utility Subsurface
Locates item #4 below. This information will be used for design purposes to provide the
minimum vertical clearances as required by the Department of Environmental Protection.
c. The ENGINEER shall prepare Utility Improvement Plan and Profile Sheets at a 1 `40 '
scale and technical specifications to show location of the reclaimed water main, and
submit to the COUNTY at the 90% and Final Design stages. Note: The Utility
Improvement Plans will also be used to show all other existing utility adjustments and
proposed utility additions.
d. The ENGINEER will coordinate with utility owners to minimize relocations.
3
