The County Attorney stated there would be a special meeting of the Board of County <br />Commissioners on December 17 at 9:00 A. M. at which time a public hearing will be held on <br />fixing of a bulkhead line. <br />The Road & Bridge Superintendent having tabulated the bids reported that Arnold <br />o� <br />Fold Sales was low bidder on the Tractor unit at a price of $6680.49, this with jumpers. He further <br />stated that Nelson Manufacturing Company was low bidder on the Trailer unit but their bid 1i <br />was not quite up to specifications but that the Fontaine Company was the low with all specifi <br />cations as required. Upon Motion made by Commissioner W. C. Graves, Jr., seconded by <br />Commissioner McCullers and carried the Board authorized buying the Tractor from Arnold Ford <br />Sales and buy the lowest one of the trailer units that meets the required specifications and <br />that this equipment should be bought on a cash basis and not lease purchase plan. <br />Mrs. Anne Christensen, County Welfare Case Worker appeared before the Board and gave! <br />a report of her activities for the month of November. Said report was ordered.filed by the g <br />Clerk. V <br />Col. O'Brien, Civil Defense Director of Indian River County appeared before the <br />Board stating he needed information with regard to relocation of the Courthouse, etc. in the <br />event of an emergency. After considerable discussion in the matter a Committee was appointed <br />consisting of Sherman N. Smith, Jr., W. C. Graves, Jr., Ed Schmucker and Col. O'Brien to work <br />out these and other details. <br />Col. O'Brien further stated that he was in need of stenographic help. The Chairman g <br />asked all members to be thinking about this problem and discuss the matter further at the <br />next regular meeting. <br />I <br />Tom Williams, Juvenile Counselor appeared before the Board requesting payment for <br />mileage and attending meetings. The Board informed him that since most of his work was with <br />the school department he ',should contact J. A. Thompson in this regard. N <br />Ed Schmucker, Road and Bridge Superintendent stated that he had several dues to <br />pay each year and asked the County's help in this respect. Upon Motion made by Commissioner <br />W. C. Graves, Jr., seconded by Commissioner Macdonald and carried the Board authorized payment. <br />of these dues up to $40.00. <br />The following Notary Public Bonds were approved by Douglas Baker, Clerk in the <br />amount of $500.00 each as.required by law: N <br />T. -J. Dupree w/ American Fire & Casualty Company as surety. <br />Barbara G. Lutkemeier w/ American Surety Company as surety. <br />George W. Compton w/ American Surety Company of N. Y. as surety. r <br />A letter was read by the Secretary from the Indian River Farms Drainage District <br />requesting a resolution be adopted requiring culverts be put in as drainage outlets into <br />canals. Upon Motion made by Commissioner W. C. Graves, Jr., seconded by Commissioner Mc - <br />Cullers and unanimously carried the Board adopted a Resolution as requirement for plats of <br />I-0 <br />subdivisions that drainage outlets into canals be by culverts to prevent eroding in the canals.; <br />The several bills and accounts against the County, having been audited, were examined <br />and found correct, were approved and warrants issued in settlement of same. Such bills and acct,; <br />ounts being on file in the office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court, the warrants so issued <br />from the respective funds being listed in the Supplemental Minute Book as provided by the <br />a <br />a <br />1 <br />0 <br />Ll <br />�J <br />
