Indian RAYer Colwrty Pirge 3
InlProvements. to 5 3"' Street & Old Dixie flighiva), Project No. PSL-08-2558 (BG 11 . 4)
We understandthat the County will provide a backhoe/trackhoe to perform the test pit
excavations , and therefore, costs associated with rental of such equipment have not
been included in this proposal
Thiii-walled tube soil samples may be obtained during the drilling operations if soft
cohesive soils are identified by the borings drilled in the unimproved roadway. The
thin-walled tube .samples would be used to perform laboratory consolidation testing
for evaluation of potential magnitude and time rate of settlement.
6 . Groundwater levels will be measured in each of the boreholes upon thein completion,
and again after an approximate 24 -hour period to allow the water table time to
stabilize, when possible. Additionally, we plan to install 6-foot deep temporary
piezometers at. approximately '1 ,0004bot centers (excluding the- unimproved roadway
section between the lakes) to measure the watertable levels over a period of time to
help establish the range of groundwater fluctuations.
7 . Six (6) soils samples will be collected for corrosion series testing .
Pond Areas
1 . Explore the subsurface conditionsat the wet pond site with two (2), 20400t deep SPT
borings . Explore the subsurface conditions at the two dry pond sites with four (4),
10-foot deep SPT borings . The pond SPT borings which are not utilized for
piezometer construction will be grout sealed after their completion. The SPT borings
that will be drilled for the proposed wet pond location may need to be drilled within
the roadway right of way , adjacent to the pond due to access issues (area was flooded
at the time of this proposal),
2 . Conduct two (2) field permeability tests to assess the hydraulic conductivity of the
subsoils within . proposed dry pond areas . The tests will be conducted in 10 -foot deep
boreholes utilizing the SFWMD open hole, constant head test method .
3 . Install two (2), 10400t deep temporary piezometers, one in the wet pond- and one in a
selected dry pond site . Obtain groundwater readings in the piezometers once per
week for 3 weeks.
4. Two (2) soil samples for Limerock Bearing Ratio (LBR) testing will be collected
from proposed pond areas .
Mast Arms
1 . Explore the subsurface conditions at the 53,d Street intersection with U . S . Highway 1
with four (4), 35 -foot deep SPT borings, one drilled at each corner. Explore the
subsurface conditions at each ofthe 53rd Street intersections with Old_ Dixie Highway,
the Publix access road and Indian. River Boulevard with two (2), 35400t deep SPT
borings drilled at diagonally: opposite corners (if feasible) .
Dunkelberger
