26 . 05 REQUEST FOR LEAVE <br /> A. To receive compensation while absent on medical leave , the <br /> employee shall notify the EMS Chief prior to or as soon as possible <br /> after time set for beginning the daily duties . An employee in a unit <br /> operating on a twenty-four hour basis must notify the department one <br /> hour before the start of the employee's next scheduled shift . <br /> B . In the event that an employee is suspected of abusing medical leave <br /> privileges , the EMS Chief or , designee shall request a physician's <br /> certificate to verify the illness . <br /> 26 . 06 CHARGING LEAVE <br /> A. Medical leave time shall be charged to the employee for the actual <br /> time the employee-is away from work. <br /> B . Medical leave will be charged in not less than one hour minimum <br /> periods for time less than one day. <br /> 26 . 07 SPECIAL CONSIDERATION FOR PRUDENT USE OF MEDICAL LEAVE <br /> Medical leave accumulated in excess of one hundred days prior to the <br /> employee's anniversary date shall be compensated by paying the employee <br /> by the middle of the month following the month in which the employee's <br /> anniversary date occurs for one-half such excess leave at the employee's <br /> regular hourly straight time pay . <br /> 48 <br />
