19 . 02 Sick leave will be charged to the employee who agreed to work the shift if the employee who <br /> agreed to work the shift calls in sick. <br /> ARTICLE 20 <br /> SUBSTITUTE EMPLOYMENT <br /> 20 . 01 The Employer agrees not to use, assign or detail members of the bargaining unit as substitute <br /> employees to perform non-firefighting duties except where lives or property are in imminent <br /> danger. <br /> 20 . 02 Furthermore, the Employer agrees to use members of the Vero Beach Volunteer Fire <br /> Department as supplements to the Department only and will not replace a professional <br /> firefighter with a volunteer firefighter. <br /> ARTICLE 21 <br /> WORKING OUT OF CLASSIFICATION <br /> 21 . 01 An employee required to work temporarily at a rank higher shall receive $25 . 00 per day <br /> ($50 . 00 per shift) for the period of time the employee worked out of classification. To qualify <br /> for temporary relief pay, the employee must work in a higher classification for a minimum of <br /> three (3) hours. Only those qualified employees who have completed their probationary <br /> period will be utilized while filling a vacancy in a higher classification. Employees having <br /> completed six (6) months of their promotional probationary period may work out of <br /> classification if qualified by the Promotion Board. <br /> 21 . 02 On 10- 1 -03 the amount paid for working out of class will be increased to $30 . 00 per day <br /> ($60 . 00 per shift) . <br /> 21 . 03 As of 9-30-01 , no other article of this agreement and/or the Department Rules and <br /> Regulations and/or any practice, etc. , shall be applicable to this article as written above.
