4W <br /> F . Ductile Iron Pipe and Fittings <br /> 1 . General <br /> a. Ductile iron pipe shall be allowed for use as water pipe where compatible with the <br /> specific conditions of the project. The use of material other than ductile iron may be <br /> required by IRCDUS during construction permit review, or by IRCDUS field <br /> personnel, if it is determined that ductile iron pipe is unsuitable for the particular <br /> application . <br /> r' b. All ductile iron pipe shall be manufactured in accordance with AWWA Specification C- <br /> 151 and shall be Class 52 minimum. <br /> c. Unless specifically indicated otherwise, restrained joint underground piping shall be <br /> manufactured restrained bell and spigot and aboveground piping shall be flanged. <br /> d . Cutting of ductile iron pipe shall be sawing only. <br /> 2. Pipe <br /> Ductile iron pipe shall be bell and spigot cast in accordance with AWWA Specification <br /> C151 (ANSI A21 . 51 -86) , or latest revision . Cast ductile iron shall have a minimum <br /> tensile strength of 60 , 000 psi , with a minimum yield strength of 42, 000 psi . Pipe wall <br /> thickness shall be computed in accordance with AWWA Specification C150 (ANSI <br /> A21 .50-81 ), or latest revision, using the physical characteristics cited above, with a <br /> minimum working pressure of 150 psi and a Laying Condition "Type 2. " Unless <br /> • otherwise indicated or specified herein, the pipe "shall have the minimum wall thickness <br /> according to class designation for diameters shown.
