Li <br />ON 3. Fittings <br />a. All underground fittings shall be either bell and spigot, or mechanical joint. <br />r Mechanical joints shall conform to AWWA Specification C110 (ANSI 21.10-87), of <br />latest revision. All aboveground fittings shall be flanged joint. <br />b. The pressure rating shall be 250 psi for fittings up to 12" and a minimum of 150 psi for <br />larger sizes. <br />r c. All fittings shall be lined with the same material as specified for the pipe as discussed <br />in the lining and coating section. <br />W 4. Lining and Coating <br />a. Unless otherwise indicated, all ductile iron pipe shall be factory lined and coated. <br />r <br />b. Lining: All pipe shall be cement mortar lined and seal coated in accordance with <br />AWWA Standard C104 (ANSI A21.4-85), or latest revision. <br />r c. Coating: pe Unless specified otherwise, all <br />pipe shall be bituminous coated outside to a <br />dry film thickness of at least 1 mil. <br />d. Repair. Anywhere that the coating is removed purposely or accidentally, the area <br />shall be cleaned of any rust, grease, and recoated to a minimum dry film as specified <br />for the individual piece. <br />r <br />e. Encasement: If and where directed by IRCDUS, a polyethylene encasement shall be <br />provided over pipe, fittings, and valves. The material, installation, and workmanship <br />r shall conform to applicable sections of AWWA C105 (ANSI A21.5-88), or latest <br />revision. Installation methods A or B shall be employed using flat tube polyethylene. <br />The Contractor shall make provisions to keep the polyethylene from direct exposure <br />r to sunlight prior to installation, and backfilling following installation shall be completed <br />without delay to avoid exposure to sunlight. <br />r 5. Bell and Spigot Connections <br />Joints in bell and spigot pipe shall be push -on, mechanical, or restrained joints in <br />accordance with AWWA Standard C-111 (ANSI 21.11-85), or latest revision. <br />Mechanical joint pipe set screw type retainer glands will be permitted on a case-by-case <br />basis, when restrained mechanical joints, in accordance with AWWA Standard 0-111 <br />(ANSI 21.11-85), or latest revision, are Impractical. Thrust blocks may be required by <br />• IRCDUS in cases where retainer glands are used. <br />6. Flanged Connections <br />a. All flanged pipe barrels shall comply with the physical and chemical requirements as <br />set forth in the Handbook of Ductile Iron Pipe of the Cast Iron Pipe Research <br />r Association. Flanges shall be in accordance with ANSI Specification B16.1 for Class <br />125 flanges. Bolts shall comply with ANSI Specification 818.2. <br />
