1.13 HURRICANE PREPAREDNESS PLAN <br />A. Within 30 days of the date of Notice to Proceed, submit a Hurricane Preparedness Plan to <br />the Engineer and the Owner for approval. The Plan shall describe in detail the necessary <br />measures which the Contractor will perform, at no additional costs to the Owner, in case <br />of a hurricane warning. Revise Plan as required by the Engineer and Owner. <br />1.14 WEATHER PROTECTION <br />A. In the event of inclement weather, the Contractor shall protect the Work and materials <br />from damage or injury from the weather. If, in the opinion of the Owner, any portion of <br />the Work or materials has been damaged by reason of failure on the part of the Contractor <br />to so protect the Work, such Work and materials shall be removed and replaced with new <br />materials and Work to the satisfaction of the Owner. <br />1.15 PROVISIONS FOR CONTROL OF EROSION <br />A. Sufficient precautions shall be taken during construction to minimize the run-off of <br />polluting substances such as silt, clay, fuels, oils, bitumens, calcium chloride, or other <br />polluting materials harmful to humans, fish, or other life, into the supplies and surface <br />waters of the State. Control measures must be adequate to assure that turbidity in the <br />receiving water will not be increased more than 10 nephelometric turbidity units (NTU), <br />or as otherwise required by the State or other controlling body, in water used for public <br />water supply or fish unless limits have been established for the particular water. In surface <br />water used for other purposes, the turbidity must not exceed 25 NTU unless otherwise <br />permitted. Special precautions shall be taken in the use of construction equipment to <br />prevent operations which promote erosion. <br />1.16 WARRANTIES <br />A. Unless specified otherwise in the Contract Documents, all equipment supplied under these <br />Specifications shall be warranted by the Contractor and the equipment Manufacturers for a <br />minimum period of one (1) year. Warranty period shall commence on the date of Owner <br />acceptance. <br />B. The equipment shall be warranted to be free from defects in workmanship, design, and <br />materials. If any part of the equipment should fail during the warranty period, it shall be <br />replaced in the machine(s) and the unit(s) restored to service at no expense to the Owner. <br />Co The Manufacturer's warranty period shall run concurrently with the Contractor's warranty <br />or guarantee period. No exception to this provision shall be allowed. The Contractor shall <br />be responsible for obtaining equipment warranties in accordance with Section 01740 from <br />each of the respective suppliers or Manufacturers for all the equipment specified under <br />Divisions 11, 14, 15, 16, and 17. <br />D. In the event that the Manufacturer is unwilling to provide a one year warranty <br />commencing at the time of Owner acceptance, the Contractor shall obtain from the <br />Manufacturer a two (2) year warranty starting at the time of equipment delivery to the job <br />site. This two-year warranty shall not relieve the Contractor of the one-year warranty <br />starting at the time of Owner acceptance of the equipment. <br />044572017 <br />01170-4 <br />
