1. 17 CONNECTIONS TO EXISTING SYSTEMS <br />A. The Contractor shall perform all work necessary to locate, excavate and prepare for <br />connections to the existing reverse osmosis water treatment plant as shown on the <br />Drawings or where directed by the Owner. The cost for this work and for the actual <br />connection to the existing reverse osmosis water treatment plant shall be included in the <br />bid for the project and shall not result in any additional cost to the Owner. <br />B. It is the responsibility of the Contractor to expose as required, the existing pipes at the <br />tie-in locations and, if necessary, any buried utilities in the immediate area of the tie-in <br />that may affect the installation of new pipe as shown on the Drawings. Contractor is fully <br />responsible for ordering any additional material, such as fittings and restrained pipe that <br />may be needed to avoid existing buried utilities should such material not be shown on the <br />Drawings or included in the Schedule of Prices. The Contractor may not schedule any <br />tie-in activity until such additional material is on site and a specific detailed plan is <br />approved by the Engineer in accordance with Section 01014. <br />1.18 OBSTRUCTIONS <br />A. The attention of the Contractor is drawn to the fact that during excavation at the Project <br />site, the possibility exists of the Contractor encountering various water, chemical, <br />electrical, or other lines not shown on the Drawings. The Contractor shall exercise <br />extreme care before and during excavation to locate and flag these lines so as to avoid <br />damage to the existing lines. Should damage occur to an existing line, the Contractor shall <br />repair the line at no cost to the Owner. <br />B. It is the responsibility of the Contractor to ensure that all utility or other poles, the stability <br />of which may be endangered by the close proximity of excavation, are temporarily stayed <br />in position while work proceeds in the vicinity of the pole and that the utility or other <br />companies concerned be given reasonable advance notice of any such excavation by the <br />Contractor. <br />1.19 PROVISIONS FOR THE CONTROL OF DUST AND LITTER <br />A. Sufficient precautions shall be taken during construction to minimize the amount of dust <br />created. Wetting down the site may be required or as directed by the Owner to prevent <br />dust as a result of vehicular traffic. Control of blowing litter caused by any regrading by <br />the Contractor shall be the responsibility of the Contractor. <br />1.20 ON SITE STORAGE <br />A. The Contractor's attention is invited to special storage requirements and possible charges <br />for noncompliance of on-site storage requirements for materials and equipment as <br />specified in Section 01610. <br />1.21 EMERGENCY PHONE NUMBERS AND ACCIDENT REPORTS <br />A. Emergency phone numbers (fire, medical, police, and Contractor's emergency after hours <br />number) shall be posted at the Contractor's phone and its locations be made to known to <br />all. <br />044572017 <br />01170-5 <br />
