E. All materials which, in the opinion of the Engineer, have become so damaged as to be <br />unfit for the use intended or specified shall be promptly removed from the site of the work <br />and the Contractor shall receive no compensation for the damaged material or its removal. <br />F. Arrange storage in a manner to provide easy access for inspection. Make periodic <br />inspections of stored products to assure that products are maintained under specified <br />conditions and free from damage or deterioration. <br />G. Protection after Installation <br />1. Provide substantial coverings as necessary to protect installed products from <br />damage from traffic and subsequent construction operations. Remove coveting <br />when no longer needed. <br />H. The Contractor shall be responsible for all material, equipment and supplies sold and <br />delivered to the Owner under this Contract until final inspection of the work and <br />acceptance thereof by the Owner. In the event any such material, equipment and supplies <br />are lost, stolen, damaged, or destroyed prior to final inspection and acceptance, the <br />Contractor shall replace same without additional cost to the Owner. <br />I. Failure to take proper action on storage and handling of equipment supplied under this <br />Contract within seven days after written notice to do so has been given, the Owner retains <br />the right to correct all deficiencies noted in previously transmitted written notice and <br />deduct the cost associated with these corrections from the Contract. These costs may be <br />comprised of expenditures for labor, equipment usage, administrative, clerical, <br />Engineering and any other costs associated with making the necessary corrections. <br />1.07 SPECIAL TOOLS <br />A. Manufacturers of equipment and machinery shall furnish any special tools (including <br />grease guns or other lubricating devices) required for normal adjustment, operations and <br />maintenance, together with instructions for their use. Preserve and deliver to the Owner <br />these tools and instructions in good order no later than 10 days prior to plant start-up. <br />1.08 STORAGE AND HANDLING OF EQUIPMENT ON SITE <br />A. Because of the long period allowed for construction, special attention shall be given to the <br />storage and handling of equipment on site. As a minimum, the procedure outlined below <br />shall be followed. <br />1. Equipment shall not be shipped until approved by the Resident Project <br />Representative. The intent of this requirement is to reduce on-site storage time <br />prior to installation and/or operation. Under no circumstances shall equipment be <br />delivered to the site more than one month prior to installation without written <br />authorization from the Resident Project Representative. Operation and <br />maintenance data as described in Section 01730 shall be submitted to the <br />Engineer for review prior to shipment of equipment. <br />2. All equipment having moving parts such as gears, electric motors, etc, and/or <br />instruments shall be stored in a temperature and humidity controlled building <br />approved by the Resident Project Representative, until such time as the equipment <br />is to be installed. <br />044572017 <br />01610-4 <br />
