3.04 SHOP PAINTING <br />A. Before exposure to weather and prior to shop painting, all surfaces shall be thoroughly <br />cleaned, dry and free from all mill -scale, rust, grease, dirt and other foreign matter. <br />B. All pumps and motors shall be shop primed with primer compatible with field painting as <br />specified in Division 9. <br />C. All nameplates shall be properly protected during painting. <br />D. Gears, bearing surfaces, and other similar surfaces obviously not to be painted shall be given <br />a heavy shop coat of grease or other suitable rust resistant coating. This coating shall be <br />maintained as necessary to prevent corrosion during periods of storage and erection and shall <br />be satisfactory to the Engineer up to the time of the final acceptance test <br />3.05 INSTALLATION <br />A. Install all equipment in strict conformance with the manufacturer's specifications and <br />industry standards. Perform all work in a workmanlike manner. <br />B. Manufacturer's representative for pumps shall inspect installation for correctness and <br />compliance with manufacturer's specifications and submit written certification that <br />equipment is ready to be placed in service. <br />C. No piping connecting any of the equipment shall be jacked, pried or forced in to position in <br />any way. All piping must mate perfectly with the equipment it is attaching prior to <br />installation of flange bolts or other connecting devices. <br />D. Prepare existing concrete pedestal as needed for installation of proposed pumping units. <br />E. No more than one high service pump can be out of service at any time. No high service <br />pump can be out of service for any longer than 10 days during the replacement/start-up <br />process. <br />F. The contractor shall coordinate with Hudson Pump so that the pump rehabilitation of the <br />shelf spare can be performed onsite once one of the existing high service pumps has been <br />removed from service. Contact Jim Walton with Hudson Pump at 863-665-7867 to <br />coordinate costs and scheduling of work. Rehabilitation of the one (1) high service pump <br />must be coordinated with the Owner as to not interrupt water plant operations. The contractor <br />shall be responsible to store the shelf spare pump as directed by the Owner. <br />G. Each high service pump must be installed, tested, disinfected, and fully operational before <br />removing the next high service pump. <br />3.06 START-UP <br />A. The pump manufacturer shall have a qualified representative mate the pump to the motor. <br />Manufacturer must provide a qualified representative on-site for a minimum of one day to <br />certify the pump installation and confirm pump performance. <br />044572017 <br />11934-9 <br />
