PART2-PRODUCTS <br />2.01 VARIABLE FREQUENCY DRIVE <br />A. General <br />1. The Contractor shall provide integrated, all solid state, microprocessor controlled, pulse <br />width modulated, variable frequency drive (VFD) speed control systems for the control <br />of pumping units and motors, in response to automatic or manual control input signals, in <br />accordance with the Contract Documents. <br />2. The variable frequency drive (VFD) unit shall be integrated, all solid state systems <br />designed to operate at 460 volt A.C., three-phase, 60 Hz. in an outdoor environment. The <br />variable speed control systems shall be supplied to control the speed of any standard <br />NEMA Design B squirrel cage induction motor with 1.15 service factor derated to 1.0 <br />and without requiring motor modifications. The Contractor shall provide the actual pump <br />motor data to the VFD Supplier who shall furnish the size and type of VFD required for <br />the specific application. <br />3. The drive shall be of first class workmanship and shall be entirely designed and suitable <br />for the intended services. All materials used in fabricating the equipment shall be new <br />and undamaged. <br />4. The VFD shall be manufactured in accordance with all applicable NEMA and NFPA 70 <br />requirements. <br />5. The complete VFD system shall be U.L. listed in accordance with U.L. Spec 508C, <br />B. Manufacturers <br />1. The VFD supplied under this Section shall be the product of a single Manufacturer. <br />2. VFD systems must not be fabricated in whole or part by parties other than the VFD <br />manufacturer. Package modification to a Manufacturer's standard product will not be <br />allowed by outside parties. <br />3. Manufacturers shall have a minimum of 10 years experience specializing in the design <br />and manufacturing of PWM variable frequency drives. <br />4. Manufacturers shall have maintained factory trained and authorized service facilities <br />within 100 miles of the project and have a demonstrated record of service for at least the <br />previous three years. Full-time support personnel shall be employed by the manufacturer. <br />5. Manufacturers shall be certified to LSO -9001 Series of Quality Standards with drive <br />products manufactured in an ISO certified facility to assure all quality and corrective <br />action procedures have been adhered to. <br />6. Subject to compliance with all of the requirements, provide variable frequency drives of <br />the following Manufacturer: Square -D.
